Chief Financial Officer
I have been involved in the practice since 1991 and have held many positions. My family and I have “grown up” in the practice and love seeing our patients go through the many stages of life. I am pleased that we have been able to serve the community for so many years and have made lifelong friends along the way.
I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Computational Mathematics from Long Island University, CW Post, in 1984 after three years of college. I was married the last year of college and then had six beautiful children, a few of whom you can see working around the office doing assisting, hygiene or dental procedures.
A few years ago, with the children practically grown, I went back to school and received an Associates in Applied Science, Cum Laude in Dental Hygiene at Briarcliffe College in Patchogue. I held the position of class Treasurer in the Student American Dental Hygiene Association, and was a speaker at the Hygiene School Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. I was proud to be part of the first graduating class and received the highest honor from New York State at graduation, the DHASNY Presidential Award. I am a member of the American Dental Hygiene Association. I take pleasure in teaching my patients about their teeth and gums, and to help them achieve excellent dental health. It has been a rewarding experience to see people grow in confidence and health once you educate and take care of their oral health needs. We love treating our patients like family.
My hobbies and downtime are enjoying my family, going to the movies, hosting all the family holidays and loving all my beautiful grandchildren. They are truly a blessing.
Bernice Spigonardo, RDH graduated Farmingdale State College in 2003. She ranked first in her class graduating Phi Theta Kappa, receiving recognition from NYS Dental Association and Farmingdale College for high honors in clinical and academic excellence. Her most valued award came from Colgate Oral Pharmaceuticals for “compassion in patient care, enthusiasm for community service and dedication to the enjoyment of the profession of Dental Hygiene.”
After graduating, she went to SUNY Stony brook to get her certification in Local Anesthesia and Nitrous Oxide. She is currently continuing her education in Dental Hygiene at Farmingdale State College and is looking forward to taking Spanish in the fall of this year, which will be useful in professional practice and mission trips to the Dominican Republic.
Her experience includes both general and periodontal practices. She has been on staff at Patchogue Family Dental for almost 15 years, where the patients and staff feel more like family. Bernice loves being a hygienist and focuses on addressing patient concerns, education and the well-being of not only the teeth but the patient’s overall health as it relates to oral hygiene. She is a member of the American Hygienist’s Association and the Long Island Hygienist’s Association.
Bernice lives in Miller Place with her husband Joe. She enjoys fitness and spending down-time with family and friends. She has a heart for helping and has volunteered at the Long Island Veteran’s Home, feeding the local homeless with her church and will be going on this year’s mission trip to the Dominican Republic to help build a school for poverty-stricken children in San Marcos.
Courtney Richter Maglione
I love this field and working with my patients to help them obtain better oral health. I grew up in this dental practice and went on to be head assistant and the orthodontic coordinator for several years. Once I decided that I wanted to work more directly with our patients care, I went on to obtain my RDH (dental hygienist degree and license). I find it very rewarding getting to know my patients and their families as I help them to better oral health through prevention and periodontal care.
I have three beautiful children who are learning to be champion brushers. Maybe someday they will follow in the family legacy and go into this wonderful field!
I’ve been in the dental field for over a decade, spending all 10+ years right here at Patchogue/ Hampton Family Dental. I began my career as a dental assistant and then returned back to school at The University of New Haven to study and become a dental hygienist, which I’ve been currently doing since 2011. I love my job and am blessed to work with such great professionals. I also love my patients, as many of them I have grown to know on a personal level over the years. Outside of the office, I enjoy traveling and spending time with my husband and 2 year old son. Before entering the dental field, I earned a Bachelor’s degree in business from Saint Joseph’s College right here in Patchogue.
I joined Dr. Richter’s team as their Financial Coordinator in February 2017. It has been a pleasure to meet and get to know all of his loyal patients and their families.
With nearly 10 years of experience in the Dental Billing and Coding field, I am confident I will continue to provide informative, accurate and professional service, assisting in any and all financial arrangements or needs.
I am 21 years old born in Ecuador. I was raised in New York until I was 14 years old and moved to Ecuador. I graduated in Ecuador from High school also have a certificate as a Turisim Guide, but I prefer Dentistry as a profession which is why I came back to New York in 2016 leaving my family behind who I miss dearly. I am currently enrolled in the Boces Dental Assistant certification program, and currently hold the position as Financial Coordinator of Hampton Family Dental, PC. I am also enrolled in Suffolk County Community College going for my associates and hopefully later on get the chance to be a hygienist in the future.
My name is Jess and I have been one of Dr. Richter’s dental assistants for about three years. I was hired straight out of my BOCES Dental Assistant course internship and now you can find me running around, always busy, in both our offices in Patchogue and East Quogue assisting him and now his daughter Dr. Alex Richter! While working for Dr. Richter, I have become a certified orthodontic assistant and I’ve gone back to work on getting my degree in Dental Hygiene so I will be able to do your cleanings soon enough! I am so lucky to have found a job that really isn’t a job at all and have learned to love what I do and to make people love their smile!
Hello, my name is Mirian and I am a dental assistant at Patchogue Family Dental, PC. If you are lucky enough, you will also catch me running around the office at Hampton Family Dental, PC. The other assistants and I work alongside both Dr. Richter and Dr. Alex, we make our priority to keep our patients comfortable and safe. I discovered my passion for the dental world when I attended the BOCES certification program. My next goal in life is to become a dental hygienist and to help patients achieve their best sparkling smile, so they can share it with the world. My daily goal in the office is to make everyone smile, because everyone deserves to be happy at all times, even if it’s in a dental chair.
I hope I’m able to meet you and take care of you next time you need dental work!
Hello, my name is Angela. I was inspired by Dr. Richter of Patchogue Family Dental, PC and other fellow assistants to go to the BOCES program to become a dental assistant. A few of my priorities are to always put patients first regarding comfortability, safety and making sure you’re happy! So far, I’ve worked side by side with assistants Jessica and Mirian, as well as Dr. Richter. The atmosphere in this office is overall amazing. It is very rewarding when I see patients pleased, leaving me feeling very accomplished. When you come in for your next visit, it will be more than a please to leave you with a sparking smile.
